Fish Emulsion Concentrate

What is Fish Emulsion Concentrate (FEC)?
FEC is composed of fermented juice of fish scraps such as gills and innards which contains enormous amount of amino acids as well as the macro element nitrogen needed by plants to sustain a healthy growth.

How do I make FEC?
In a clean clay pot or any suitable container, put fish scraps (gills and innards) at the bottom layer and add brown sugar or molasses of the same weight. No need to mix thoroughly. Make sure that the fish scraps and the sugar/molasses are of equal proportion. Cover the container with plastic or cloth. Put in a shady place and allow fermentation for at least 1 month. Strain the mixture. It is now ready for use.

How do I use FEC?
For use as drench fertilizer: Mix 2 tbsp of FEC, 2 tbsp of LactoBac LAS‐1 (also available at our farm) with 1 liter of water and irrigate on roots for 10 successive days in a month. For use as foliar and vegetable fertilizer: Mix 1 tbsp of FEC extract, 1 tbsp of LactoBac LAS‐1 (also available at our farm) with 1 liter of water and spray on plants every 7 days during early morning or late afternoon until harvest.

Effective Microorganisms

A Primer on the Agricultural Usage of Effective Microorganisms

LactoBac LAS-1 is a concentrated liquid form of Lactic Acid Serum (LAS). It contains Lactobacillus, which is an indigenous microorganism used in food processing, production of beneficial drugs and medicine, and in agricultural production. This organism is soil-borne, free-living, and of the beneficial type. The serum is cultured using natural fermentation process and is not genetically engineered to enhance its beneficial effects.
